In Theni district, 52,784 jewelery borrowers were declared ineligible and the government did not grant them loan waivers. Jewelry loans were waived for 27,977 people.

Of these, a list of 30,283 eligible persons was sent to the Government by the District Co-operative Society after auditing as per the regulations announced by the Government. Of these, 2306 were found to be ineligible for more than 40 grams of jewelery mortgages, loan savings and fixed deposits. 27,305 of them have been issued loan waiver certificates and jewelery. 672 persons were certified as outsiders, without proof of inheritance and returned the jewelery, but the jewelery was not returned. At the district level there is a committee headed by the Joint Registrar, Deputy Registrar and the General Manager of the Central Bank. Those who do not receive a jewelry loan waiver can appeal to the Deputy Registrar's Office until April 20, if eligible. The appeal will be resolved within 30 days.
